How It All Began
My name is Saveria M. C. Giovinazzo. I am the owner and artisan of Arts & Edibles. I come from a strong Italian heritage of deep-rooted traditions in both artistic craftsmanship and Italian cuisine. Growing up, I learned to see beauty through my parents' eyes; they showed me that artistry exists all around us. From my parents' giving hearts, I learned that food was a blessing...it was to be appreciated and shared with all who entered our home...no one left hungry. My father's vegetable gardening and my mother's cooking were in themselves works of art. From observing my parents, my love for the fine arts and the culinary arts were instilled in me years ago.
As a child, I loved to draw...and I loved to cook. If I wasn't creating art on paper, I was creating art in the kitchen. It was all very natural to me. So, for my schooling, I attended Wayne State University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with a concentration in drawing. My interest in food and cooking grew as well, as I furthered my food experience in catering and the pizza business. I knew that I wanted to share the importance of both the fine arts and the culinary arts with others.
I went on to teach both art classes and cooking classes throughout the community for years. My experience includes instruction to students of all ages, from children to adults. Finally, in 2016, I decided to merge my passions of fine artist and food enthusiast into a cohesive world, thereby creating my business of Arts & Edibles.
With Arts & Edibles I can bring a new experience of the fine arts and the culinary arts to people who may not otherwise be exposed to such an experience. The arts stir the creative mind and feed the senses: they evoke innovative thinking. The combination of analytical thinking and creative thought has created the most beautiful works of art in history, as well as the greatest inventions ever conceived. In cuisine, it has established a history of traditional ethnic foods, as well as being the force in the creation of modern and contemporary twists in the making of delicious dishes. So, come join me and experience the arts hands on...and maybe even discover a passion for the arts in you!
